TOPEKA TRIP

An interesting and informative visit to our State Capitol.
New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL members only)

Tue., Oct. 16, 2001, 7:45am
Location: Meet at the Lied Center parking lot
Join NGSL for an interesting and informative visit to our State Capitol. Our morning will start with a guided tour of the Capitol Building where the many murals noting historical events associated with Kansas history will be discussed. Lunch will be served at the Capitol Hotel where five different legislators will talk with us. They will include: the Vice President of the Senate, Senator Sandy Praeger, and Speaker of the House Kent Glasscock. Each session will include a time for questions. The day will end with a tour of Cedar Crest?the Governor?s recently redecorated home?where we will receive a brief glimpse of the not-so-private life of the governor and his family (Cedar Crest, a 72 year-old home, has recently undergone an 18 months long, $4.4 million renovation. It is truly a sight to behold).

Come with us as we revisit lessons in civics and state government. We will return to Lawrence by 5:00 p.m.

Programs may be attended by NGSL members only.
