POWELL GARDENS ADVENTURE II

A tour of Powell Gardens and time to see the summer displays.
New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL members only)

Wed., Sep. 19, 2001, 8:00am
Location: Powell Gardens
Enjoy late summer and early fall flowers, which have different colors and fragrances from the spring flowers seen in the earlier Powell Gardens trip. After seeing the seasonal display in the indoor conservatory, the water garden and the blooms in the outdoor terrace garden, we will board the trolley to ride around the gardens to the elegant Marjorie Powell Allen Chapel. This serene place of worship was designed by architects Fay Jones and Maurice Jennings.

After our chapel visit, we will stroll by the fall wildflower meadow, the rock waterfall garden and the lush, colorful perennial garden. We will then have a private ?behind the scenes? tour of the greenhouses with a member of the horticulture staff.

Caf? Thyme will prepare a hot lunch for us, using greens and herbs from the gardens. There will be time afterward to look around on your own before we board the bus to return to Lawrence by 4:00 p.m.

Bus departs from Lied Center at 8:00 a.m. Limit 30 people

Cost: $55

Programs may be attended by NGSL members only.
