Set against the backdrop of Hans Christian Andersen?s timeless tale, this new work for young audiences offers a delightful introduction to opera as well as a fun and humorous interpretation of a time honored classic.

Complete with soaring arias, love duets, mystery and slapstick comedy, The Emperor?s New Clothes promises to be a delight for all ages.

Since 1973 , Ric Averill has been the Artistic Director, principal playwright and composer for the nationally touring Seem-To-Be Players Company that he and his wife, Jeanne, founded. He holds a B.F.A. in Music Composition and an M.A. in Children?s Theatre, both from the University of Kansas. Ric is a Kansas Playwrighting Fellow, and he and his company are recipients of the Kansas Governor?s Arts Award and numerous touring and operational grants from the Kansas Arts Commission, Heartland Arts Fund, National Endowment for the Arts and Hallmark Cards.

Ric will meet with the NSGL members after the performance for a question and answer period. It promises to be very entertaining and enlightening.
