The Lawrence windmill was an operating factory, grist-mill and business from 1865 to 1885. For its remaining 209 years, it was our most prominent landmark. Built by Swedish masons, a team and horses could be driven underneath it to load or unload. The promises and prospects of wind power will be reviewed.
