The attempt to harness the Kansas River will be detailed. We will begin with Orlando Darling, followed by James Gower. Gower?s son-in-law Justin Dewitt Bowersock eventually became the man who could, at times, channel some of the river flow into Lawrence factories and businesses. The 1905 electrification of the dam will be discussed, as well as future prospects.
