Exploring Topeka: Combat Air Museum, New Shawnee County Library, and Presbyterian Church Tiffany Windows
New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL members only)

Tue., Mar. 25, 2003, 9:00am
Location: Topeka
COMBAT AIR MUSEUM: The bulk of the museum is contained within two large hangers, but there are also a few outside displays. Over thirty displays are set throughout the hangers, with most representing aircraft from WWII to present-day. Along with the aircraft, some very interesting missile displays are scattered throughout the museum. One of the grander displays is a Lockheed Super Constellation that is displayed outside.

Most of the exhibits, as well as the facilities, are handicap accessible. We will have access to a nice, cozy lounge for anyone who feels the need to rest for a while instead of continuing the tour.

NEW SHAWNEE COUNTY LIBRARY: We will travel to the newly remodeled Shawnee County Public Library, where lunch will be catered in a private dinning room. After lunch, we will be given an escorted tour of the new facility. Some of the new additions to the library are the gift shop, Southwestern Bell?s computer training room, and very nice exhibits of artwork by local and regional artists.

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH TIFFANY WINDOWS: We will be given a tour of the beautiful Tiffany glass windows. All the windows were blown at the Louis Tiffany Studios in New York. The windows are extremely rare and irreplaceable. You won?t want to miss these!

We will return to Lawrence by 4:00 p.m.
