Location: Baker University, 618 8th St., Baldwin City
Meet at Baker University at 10:00 a.m. at the Quayle Bible Collection for a tour of this extraordinary group of rare books and manuscripts, including a page from the Gutenberg Bible, the first book printed from movable type and clay tablets from the ancient city of Ur. We will also see the Presidential Bible Collection as well as a room brought to this country from the Urishay Castle in Wales, built around 350 years ago. We will tour the newly renovated Collins Library and then cross the street to eat lunch at the home of President and Mrs. Daniel Lambert, as their guests. Following lunch, we will stroll back across the street to the Clarice L. Osborne Memorial Chapel, an English country chapel that was brought stone by stone to Baker and reconstructed. Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister, dedicated it in 1996. Lady Thatcher?s father had preached in the chapel in Sproxton in the 1930?s. We will leave Baldwin City by approximately 1:30 p.m.
