A tour with Dr. Craig Freeman, curator of the Biological Survey in charge of botany at the Herbarium.
New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL members only)

Wed., Mar. 6, 2002, 9:30am
Do you know that Kansas is one of few farsighted states that supports biological surveys? Have you heard that the McGregor Herbarium has an outstanding plant collection containing over 350,000 preserved specimens, 150,000 of which represent the botanical diversity of the state? Even if you answered ?yes,? come to learn more from Dr. Craig Freeman, curator in charge of botany at the Herbarium. He will tell us about the history and mission of these organizations, the services they provide to the state and University, as well as what they mean to individual Kansans. We will meet for refreshments and a slide show at Nichols Hall, and then drive a short distance down the hill for a walking tour of the Survey and Herbarium. Parking passes will be provided.
