A tour of Allen Press
New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL members only)

Thu., May. 12, 2005, 10:00am
Location: 810 E 10th Street
It was 1935 when Harold Allen, founder of Allen Press, started a two-man print shop in the basement of a downtown bank building in Lawrence. The first scientific journal was printed here in 1952.
More than 50 years after the first presses rolled, printing still remains the company?s cornerstone. More than 300 non-profit and commercial, scientific technical and medical publishers have chosen Allen Press for their full-service publishing needs in both print and electronic media.
Please join us for a tour of this unique and outstanding Lawrence business. Groups of ten will be led through the plant to see the intricacies of producing these quality publications.
Please keep in mind that although the tour lasts only about an hour, there are stairs and not many opportunities to sit down.
