Information and Technology Workshops
KU Libraries Instructional Services offers an extensive schedule
of free workshops to help the members of the KU community gain confidence
and skill in computing and using information technology. The
Instructional Services
staff is joined by other KU Libraries staff as well as
staff from Information Technology (IT) and Instructional Development & Support (IDS) to teach a wide range of workshops on Internet and
Outlook services; authoring, publishing, and managing Web sites;
graphics, multimedia production, office productivity, and data
analysis software; and operating systems.
Trainers introduce you to the world of information technology
using clear, straightforward language and analogies from everyday
life. Workshops include demonstrations and hands-on sessions that
run from one to four hours. Workshops on new topics and software
are added each semester. Workshop sessions may be added throughout the
semester based on demand.
Most workshops are appropriate regardless of what kind of computer or
operating system (e.g., Windows or Mac OS) you use. A few workshops are
pertinent only to those who work on a certain operating system. Most workshops require you to possess basic computing skills as a prerequisite to attendance. Some also require other prerequisites, or equivalent experience. Workshop descriptions give prerequisites, dates, times,
locations, and registration information. All workshops
require registration.

All Instructional Services workshops are free to KU students, staff, and faculty; retired KU employess and other approved
