It’s time for great camaraderie and Kansas exploration! The Professional Development Committee of Unclassified Senate invites all unclassified and university support staff to join us for the 5th Annual Mini Wheat State Whirlwind Tour. A full itinerary is below:

Time — Location, event
8:00 am — Depart on a bus from the Lied Center parking lot
8:40 am — Tour Johnson County Community College
10:00 am — Tour the KU Edwards Campus
11:00 am — Lunch at Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ
1:00 pm — Tour the Johnson County Museum
3:00 pm — Tour the Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery
4:00 pm — Drive by K-State Olathe campus
4:45 pm — Return to Lied Center parking lot

Please note: The tour is considered “work time” for hourly staff, except meal breaks. Participation requires supervisory authorization. Participants are also expected to pay for their own lunch and auxiliary expenses.

This fall Justin Henning from University Relations led a series called ‘Social Media Mondays’ to help units effectively use social media as part of their communication strategy.  The series will continue this spring, so mark your calendar for the noon hour of the last Monday of each month.   Here are links to Justin’s past presentations:

Want to take a class, attend a conference, present research or hone your job skills?  Then apply now for funding from the Unclassified Senate Professional Development Fund.  To apply for the funding, complete the application and email it to Claudia Bode by January 31, 2012.

Time is running out. Apply now to receive up to $500 for professional development. Application deadline is October 21, 2011.

Unclassified Senate will once again award funds to staff members for professional development. The funds can be used to take a class, attend a conference, present research or hone job skills.
