REPORT OF THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT
Nancy Kinnersley reported that at its meeting tomorrow the Council of Faculty Senate Presidents (COFSP) will consider a system-wide faculty morale study similar to the one done five years ago.  Following discussion, the consensus of FacEx was that this would not be a good time for such a study.
Kinnersley expects that the new president for KSU will be announced at the Regents meeting this week, and added that Regent Jill Docking will chair the Board of Regents next year.

OLD BUSINESS
KU Chancellor Search Process.
Kinnersley reported on a productive conversation she had with the two KU faculty on the search committee.  She believes that they will be strong advocates for KU’s system of shared governance. Members continued to voice concern that a representative of Faculty Governance iwas not included on the search committee.
In a general discussion about a more transparent process and open campus visits, a member stated that sometimes a closed process where names are not released may result in more qualified candidates. However, another member asked how one could have confidence in the final candidates if there were no open campus visits. Several persons expressed concern that interviews may be in the summer when most faculty are not on campus.
Kinnersley urged members to forward the names of possible Chancellor candidates to the search committee chair.

No further business.

Respectfully submitted,
Molly Mulloy
