Guidance Documents
The SPPT Committee prepared four documents now ready for distribution. SPPT worked on them in consultation from the Provost’s Office, and the Faculty Senate Executive Committee subsequently reviewed them. 1. Self Study Checklist for Units Conducting Initial Reviews – This document is a tool to be used by units that carry out intitial reviews to determine the degree to which their promotion and tenure policies and procedures are consistent with Article VI. Typically,departments and nondepartmentalized schools carry out intitial reviews.
2. Self Study Checklist for Units Conducting Intermediate Reviews – This document is similar to the above but to be used by units that conduct intermediate reviews. Typically, schools and the College conduct intermediate reviews.
3.Promotion and Tenure Policies and Procedures for Consideration – This document identifies, for consideration by units, ideas/features that go beyond the minimum requirements of Article VI. As units revise their policies and procedures, they might want to extend certain features that increase transparency, for example.
