Research Interests
I am interested in delivering genes to human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cells (hUCMSCs) for tissue engineering applications. Specifically, I am interested in inducing osteogenic (bone) or chondrogenic (cartilage) differentiation of hUCMSCs for designing tissue constructs that can be used as a potential therapy for osteochondral defects in patients that suffer from osteoarthritis, orthopedic injuries, muscular-bone degeneration, and a variety of other joint-related problems. My goal is to optimize and control the expression of growth factors in tissue engineered constructs via gene delivery to aid the body in repairing or regenerating tissue.
Hobbies
When I am not in lab I enjoy spending my free time painting and taking creative photos or going on a nice long swim. I love to cook and I love to eat too.
About Me
I like hanging out with people and visiting new places. I am farily easy-going, and I find conversations about science and history fascinating. I love to teach, and I love to develop creative new ideas. And, I love my work.
