KAPS

Kansas Association of Planning Students

Urban Planning students have their own organization called Kansas Association of Planning Students. KAPS holds several social activities during each year and provides a forum through which student views are crystallized and conveyed to the administration. The President of the organization is invited to faculty meetings and votes on all issues. The University has a rule that at least 20 percent of the members of all committees must be students.

Students are encouraged to join the American Planning Association, the national organization of planners, and to attend its meetings.  The Kansas City Section normally meets once a month.  The Kansas Chapter meets several times a year.  KAPS and the Program sometimes arrange for groups of students to attend regional and national APA conferences.
