Planning Meeting
On June 4th, 2007, the stakeholders and PREVENT Team met at the University of Kansas to begin the strategic planning process for the Kansas Strengthening Families Plan. The purpose of the meeting was to determine feasible strategies to meet the Plan goals and objectives.
The Strengthening Families Planning Meeting consisted of three sessions.
Session One
-
The PREVENT Team provided information about child maltreatment in the state of Kansas, terminology used in the environmental scan, and information on risk and protective factors was reviewed with stakeholders.
Sessions Two & Three
-
Facilitators and scribes were provided for participant break-out groups. The scribes used a web-based strategic planning software to record the participants’ ideas as they were generated.
- During the break-out groups, stakeholders participated in a strategic planning process in which they brainstormed additional objectives and strategies for the Plan. These ideas were recorded and stakeholders received a copy of the draft. This allowed stakeholders to see how they helped contribute to the Plan and the convergence of ideas for improvement.
