• Cultural India Club: DIYA 2009- Annual Diwali Show

  The Cultural India Club at KU is an Indian Student Association on the KU campus in Lawrence. We are organizing DIYA 2009, our annual Diwali Show. Diwali is an important festival in Hinduism, Sikhism, and Jainism, and an official holiday in India. Diwali is celebrated as a Festival of Lights where people decorate their houses particularly with Diyas (cotton string wicks inserted in small clay pots filled with oil) to signify victory of good over the evil within an individual. Diwali is celebrated by most Indians residing all over the world by exchanging gifts, sweets, lighting fireworks and enjoying family gatherings. Time: 06:00 PM Location: Kansas Union
