Department Earns Award for Exceptional Teaching and Learning

SPLH Faculty and Chancellor

From The Oread, May 9, 2008:

Chancellor Robert Hemenway, center, presented the Center For Teaching Excellence's Departmental Award for Exceptional Teaching and Learning to the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing on May 5. Pictured with Hemenway are, from left, Debby Daniels, Department of Hearing and Speech, KU Medical Center; Jane Wegner, director and clinical professor of speech, language and hearing; Holly Storkel, associate professor of speech, language and hearing; and Hugh Catts, chair and professor of speech, language and hearing. As part of the award, the department will receive $10,000 and will be honored Aug. 19 at the KU Teaching Summit. The Center for Teaching Excellence considers three criteria for the award: establishing a culture of learning with a focus on innovation and collaboration, systematic reflection on department goals for students and evidence of student learning.
