Please note that you will need to clear all holds before you will be able to enroll. Check Enroll & Pay to see if you have any holds.
There are four types of advising enrollment holds: First Advising Hold (FAH), First Advising Hold for 90+ hrs. Students (FA9), Non-declared (NDC), and Non-declared 60+ hrs. Students (ND6).
First Advising Hold (FAH): Students who have an initial term of Spring 2009, Summer 2009 and Fall 2009 will receive this hold. Transfer students with 60-90 hours will receive this hold if they have an initial term of Summer or Fall 2009. All College of Liberal Arts & Sciences students who are new to KU are required to meet with an advisor before enrolling in courses. The purpose of this advising appointment is to not only plan for the student's next semester but to continue their education on degree requirements, tools specific to academic advising and policies that they need to be aware of as a College student. The best place for students to receive this information is at the University Advising Center, 126 Strong Hall.
If the hold is not removed then the student will need to come to 109 Strong Hall and turn in a copy of their GPS (Graduation Position System) form indicating they met with an advisor and understand the information on their GPS.
First Advising Hold for 90+ hrs. Students (FA9): Students whose initial term at KU is Fall or Summer 2009 and who have completed 90+ credit hours will receive this hold. This hold is designed primarily to assist transfer students who are at the senior level with graduation planning, transfer work review and advising tools that the student will be required to utilize. Students are directed to meet with an advisor in CLAS Student Academic Services, 109 Strong Hall.
Non-declared (NDC) Advising Enrollment Hold: Any continuing students who have completed fewer than 60 credit hours and who have not officially declared a major or been accepted into another professional school at KU will have this hold placed on their enrollment. This hold is to encourage students to utilize their enrollment time to explore CLAS majors or other KU school options. We encourage students to make a plan toward graduation once they have decided on the major or school they plan to pursue.
Students have several ways to explore and therefore remove the hold: Declare a Major in a College department or gain admittance to another KU school; meet with an advisor in the University Advising Center, 126 Strong, to discuss possible exploration options; meet with an advisor in the College department or other KU school to discuss the possibility of declaring or applying with them.Non-declared 60+ hrs. Students Advising Enrollment Hold (ND6): Any continuing students who have not officially declared a major or been accepted into another professional school at KU will have this hold placed on their enrollment. Upperclassmen should have a declared College major or be admissible to another school at KU as indicated by the CLAS Declaration policy. Most majors in the College or upper-level school requirements take a minimum of four semesters to complete. Students can remove this hold by one of the following: Declare a Major in a College department or gain admittance to another KU school; or meet with an advisor to come up with a plan to meet the requirements for declaration or admission and submit a Non-Declared Hold Removal form. Students must go to 109 Strong Hall to get the ND6 hold removed.
