ADVISING — ELEMENTARY and INTERMEDIATE SPANISH

Enrollment in 100- and 200-level Spanish classes

  • If you are trying to enroll in a 100- or 200-level course, and there isn't a spot open, please check Enroll & Pay frequently for openings. We anticipate that spots will become available as students adjust their schedules and drop classes.
  • You may request a spot in a full class.  Requests are only considered once every section has filled.  The department reviews these requests on a case-by-case basis.  Click here to see the request form.

Enrollment in SPAN 104

  • SPAN 104 is offered only in the fall semester.
  • SPAN 104 is open only to those students who have not taken any Spanish.
  • If you took Spanish in high school, you must enroll in SPAN 111 or higher.
  • To enroll in 104 you must submit a copy of your high school transcript to the department’s main office in Wescoe 2650.  You may get a copy of your transcript at the KU Visitor Center.

Enrollment in SPAN 108

  • SPAN 108 is offered only in the spring semester.
  • SPAN 108 is open only to those students who have taken 104 at KU within the past two years.
  • If you have taken Spanish in high school or at a different institution and do not feel prepared to take 212, you may enroll in 111.  SPAN 111 covers the content of 104 and 108 in one semester.
