YAJAIRA
PADILLA
Yajaira M. Padilla, Assistant Professor of Latin American Literature, received her B.A. degree in Literature and Latin American and Chicano/Latino Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her Ph.D. degree in Literature (Spanish) from the University of California, San Diego. Her teaching and research interests include 19th and 20th century Latin American literature, Central American literature, U.S.-Latina/o literature, and contemporary Latin Americanist literary, cultural, and social theory. She is currently working on a book-length project focused on the intersections of gender, nation, literature, and immigration in contemporary Salvadoran and U.S.-Salvadoran texts.
