Position: Professor Emeritus, Specialist in 19th- and 20th-century Russian prose fiction. Chair, Friends of KU Slavic Advisory Board

Professor Parker's books include Understanding Vladimir Nabokov, The Achievements of Vladimir Nabokov, Russia on Canvas: Ilya Repin. He is editor and publisher of the journal The Nabokovian. He served as Chairman of the Slavic Department for a record thirteen years, 1987-2000.

Professor Parker arranged for the donation of a substantial library collection of Russian literature and helped to create the Fan and Stephen J. Parker Slavic Library, dedicated April 7, 2006, for the use of Slavic Department students and faculty. The collection contains comprehensive collections of works and secondary literature on Russian literary classics of the nineteenth and the first half of the twentieth century.
