She deals with the public when it comes to submitting immigration applications (this can be anyone from a refugee from Baku to a granny from a small Ukrainian village to the occasional U.S. citizen wanting to bring over “Svetlana,” his new Internet bride.). It’s fun, easy, and she gets to use Russian all day long. It also enables her to travel all over the former Soviet Union. Last year she went hiking in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. This year she hopes to go to the Altai region or Lake Baikal. | E-mail | (3/01)

Because of Prof. March’s classes, he went into the region prepared for the terrible onslaught of civil/ethnic war based from a historical perspective. He used his language training extensively as he served with the Spetsnaz platoon, 1st Independent Russian Airborne Brigade in Bosnia for a period of eight months. He ran as a democrat but the KC star said I as more like a Republican and the Republican incumbent acted more like a Democrat.
