Department of Music & Dance

The University of Kansas is a charter member (1928) of the National Association of Schools of Music, and its curricula are among the most comprehensive in the country. The graduates of the University's music and dance programs are a significant measure of the department's success. Among the alumni of the Department of Music and Dance are members of major symphony orchestras, opera companies, military bands, recording studios, dance companies, and chamber ensembles, and many are faculty members at the nation's finest colleges and universities. Music education graduates direct programs in elementary and secondary schools, and music therapy graduates head clinical programs throughout the country. The department is proud of its record of helping graduates assume leadership roles throughout the music and dance professions.
