Patrick Dooley

Patrick Dooley received a B.F.A. in 1975 and M.F.A. in 1978 from the University of Iowa. From 1980 to 1989 he worked for the J. Paul Getty Museum and J. Paul Getty Trust, as designer and eventually, design manager.

After leaving the Getty, from 1989 to 1993 he headed his own design firm in Los Angeles and taught graphic design at the Otis Art institute of Parsons School of Design. He joined KU in 1993. He continues to work actively in the field of visual communications, primarily for arts and educational organizations.

His past clients include the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art; Princeton University Press; UCLA; and the Walt Disney Company. He has received over 70 national design awards to his credit, including those from The American Institute of Graphic Arts; Communication Arts Society; Print magazine; The New York Art Directors Club; and the New York Type Directors Club.
