Stephanie L. Winslow

Stephanie is a 1999-2003 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical chemistry. She earned a B.S. (1999) in pharmacy with a minor in business from Drake University. In January 2002, she earned a M.S. in pharmaceutical chemistry. Stephanie is interested in the effect of secondary structure on peptide and protein degradation reactions in polymer matrices. She is interested in polymers due to their use in controlled release delivery systems and as excipients in pharmaceutical agents. This field of study will lead to an increased understanding of protein stability and aid in the development of improved pharmaceutical formulations. Her current research includes synthesis of model peptides, characterization of peptide structure, and peptide stability studies in solution and solid-state formulations. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry.
