Shari Baron Sokol

 

Shari, a native of Providence, Rhode Island, is a 1995-1999 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in speech-language pathology and an associate member of the Society of Self Fellows. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University (B.A., 1983, linguistics) and Brown University (M.A.T., 1985, English). She earned her M.A. in speech-language pathology from the University of Kansas in 1998. She has taught English, French, and Spanish to middle school students, and English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults. Her areas of interest include children's phonological (speech sound) development and treatment of phonological disorders. She has developed an interactive computer program designed to aid in her research with children. This year, Shari prepared one manuscript article, and presented another paper at the national convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in San Francisco.
