Robin L. Aupperle

 

Robin, a 2002-2006 Self Fellow, received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2009. She received a B.A.(2002) in psychology with honors, summa cum laude, from Oklahoma State University. Her research interests at KU were in health psychology and involved the examination of psychosocial factors related to neurodegenerative disorders, such as multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury. She has worked as a psychometrician at KU Medical Center and as a research assistant at Hoglund Brain Imaging Center. Robin is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mental Illness Research and Education Clinical Center (MIRECC) at the VA San Diego Healthcare System at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). She currently focuses on the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to understand neurobiological substrates of PTSD and anxiety disorders. In particular, her interests focus on the use of approach-avoidance conflict concepts to better understand behavioral and neurobiological mechanisms underlying the development and maintenance of anxiety disorders.
