Brian F. Platt

Brian is a 2005-2009 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in geology. He received a B.S. (2001), magna cum laude, in geology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. (2005) in geology from the University of Kansas. At Bloomsburg, Brian was awarded a University Presidential Leadership award and participated in the Presidential Leadership Program. While completing his master's degree at KU, Brian received the Erasmus Haworth Graduate Honors award and was awarded the Paterson Grant. He previously worked as a geologist at URS Corporation in 2001-2002. He has presented at seven national meetings, with publication of those abstracts in the conference volumes of the Geological Society of America, the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Brian's primary research interests are ichnology, paleontology and paleoecology. His long-term goal is understanding mesozoic ecosystems.
