Oliver S. Zeltner

 

Oliver is a 2002-2006 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in United States History. He received a B.A. (2000) in history from the University of Rhode Island, where he was awarded the Claiborne Pell Medal for Excellence in American history and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. His research interests include environmental history, American Indian history, and the study of North American frontiers, defined broadly. His article, "Crossing the River: Attitudes of Invasion in the Revolutionary Ohio Country," appeared in the Spring 2004 issue of the Indigenous Nations Studies Journal. He delivered a paper at the American Society for Ethnohistory annual meeting in October 2004, in Chicago. He is currently at work on a dissertation which analyzes the transformation of the lands and peoples of the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes Region during the 18th and 19th centuries.
