| Lon is a 2000-2004 Self Fellow pursuing
a Ph.D. in mathematics. He received a B.S. (2000) with a major in mathematics
and a minor in English and a Bachelor of Music (2000) with a concentration
in music theory and composition from Central Michigan University. He
completed a M.A. (2001) in mathematics from the University of Kansas.
Lon’s primary research interests are in the areas of K-theory
and C*-algebras, although he has done work in matrix theory and combinatorics.
Over the past several years, Lon has attended and presented at numerous
regional and national mathematics conferences all over the country.
In addition, he spent two weeks studying matrix theory at the Rocky
