Molly A. McVey
| Molly Molly is a 2006-2010 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. She received a B.S. (2003) in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas. For her senior design project she designed and built an innovative throwing chair to improve performance of local athletes in National Disabled Sports Alliance competitions. While at KU McVey has received the Black and Veatch Recycling Scholarship, the Exxon Mobil Mechanical Engineering Award, the Zimmerman Graduate Fellowship and the Chaffee Graduate Scholarship. Molly worked in production resource for Frito Lay, Inc., before returning to graduate school. Her current research investigates the biomechanics of falling for individuals with Parkinson's disease. The long-term goal of the research is to identify biomechanical markers for fall risk that can eventually be developed into a clinical tool to aid in the prevention of falls. She recently presented a poster at the annual meeting of the American Society of Biomechanics. Mentor: Carl W. Luchies, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering
