Kristin N. Kaiser
| Kristin a 2005–2009 Self Fellow, received a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology in 2009. She received a B.S. (2004) in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, Nebraska. While at Wesleyan, Kristin received a Wesleyan Scholar Award and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship. She presented a poster at the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) meeting in Maui, Hawaii, in fall 2005. Kristin's doctoral research focused on the basic regulatory mechanisms of drug disposition. Her research looked at the role of hepatic ligand-activated transcription factors and the signaling pathways that interface with them during altered nutritional status. Adverse drug reactions are the sixth leading cause of death in U.S. hospitals and her research aimed to elucidate the mechanisms of these reactions in order to predict and avoid them. Kristin is currently an IRTA fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Research Triangle Park, NC. Mentor: Jeffrey L. Staudinger, Assistant Professor, Pharmacology and Toxicology |
