Kristin E. Price
| Kristin, a 2003-2007 Self Fellow, received a Ph.D. in chemistry in 2008. She received a B.S. (2003) in chemistry, summa cum laude, from William Jewell College. Kristin's graduate research involved the study of metabonomics. Metabonomics involves monitoring changes in the levels of endogenous small molecules in response to a perturbation like a disease or administered drug. By identifying how these perturbations change metabolic pathways, we can better understand disease, drug action, or toxicity. Kristin's project involved the development of tissue targeted metabonomics using microdialysis sampling with NMR detection to locally study oxidative stress in the heart. Kristin has held internships at Boehringer Ingelheim and Phoenix Scientific. She has presented papers at national and international meetings, and presented posters at Pittcon, American Chemical Society, SMASH NMR conference, and AAPS national conferences. After graduating from KU Kristin worked as a Research Fellow in clinical pharmacology at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS. Mentor: Craig Lunte, Professor, Chemistry |
