Daniel A. Hoyt

 

Dan, a 2000-2004 Self Fellow, teaches fiction writing and journalism at Baldwin-Wallace College, a liberal arts school in Berea, Ohio. Dan completed his Ph.D. in English at KU in 2004. He received his B.J. (1992) cum laude in journalism and an M.A. (1994) in English from the University of Missouri. His main academic interest is creative writing, but he also studies contemporary American literature, the novel, and the work of Charles Dickens. Dan’s short stories have appeared or are forthcoming in The Kenyon Review, Indiana Review, Arts & Letters, and Natural Bridge, and he is working on a collection of stories and a novel. Dan has taught at the University of Missouri and the University of Sibiu in Sibiu, Romania, and he taught on a volunteer basis at the Douglas County Jail. He also has worked, mainly as an editor, at newspapers in Missouri, Wisconsin, and New York.

Dan is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Society of Self Fellows.
