Monica Flask is a 2001-2005 Self Fellow
pursuing a Ph.D. in social welfare. She received a B.S.W. (1981) in
social work from Wichita State University and a M.S.W. (1989) in social
work from KU. Monica has social work practice experience in health
care and child welfare. She has also been active in her professional
organization, serving as President of the Kansas Chapter of the National
Association of Social Workers, and assisting with organizational policy
development. In 1995, she received the Kansas Social Worker of the
Year award. Monica is interested in researching the effect of policy
on outcomes in child welfare, particularly with regard to foster care.
She plans to pursue a dissertation topic investigating the effect
of continuity of care on children and agency outcomes.
