John E. Shelley


John is a 2007-2011 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in civil, environmental, and architectural engineering. He received a B.S. (2007) in civil and environmental engineering from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.

John has worked in residential land development, water resources, and environmental permitting. His current research focuses on the relocation and restoration of natural streams. Along with his engineering studies, John has been preparing for his long-term goal of managing international water resources projects. From Spring 2006 to Spring 2007, John led a Small Helm Engineering Ethics Project which focused on improving engineering ethics in Romania. In Spring 2007, he participated in a flood mitigation study/design project in Transcoso, Mexico. John is fluent in Romanian and speaks some Spanish.
