| Peter is a 2007-2011 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in geology. He received a B.S. (2005), with departmental honors, in geological sciences/water resources from Ohio University, and an M.S. (2007) in geology from the University of Kansas. At Ohio, he received five research and personal achievement awards for research on coal mine hydrology. While at KU, he has been nominated for a University Outstanding Teaching Assistant award and for Outstanding Student Paper at the American Geophysical Union’s Joint Assembly.
His primary research interests are hydrogeology, contaminant transport and remediation, and biogeophysics. His long-term research goal is to understand how biological activity in contaminated aquifers affects flow and transport conditions. He has presented research at eight professional meetings. Abstracts of those presentations have been published in the conference volumes of the National Groundwater Association, Geological Society of America, American Geophysical Union, American Institute of Hydrology and Association of Engineering and Society of Exploration Geophysicists. Peter plans to pursue a career in government and make contributions to the techniques and technology associated with aquifer characterization and remediation.
