Andrea Romero
| Andrea Andrea is a 2007-2011 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology. She received a B.S. (2005) magna cum laude in biology from Carleton College in Minnesota. As an undergraduate, Andrea participated in research programs in the Galapagos Islands, Grenada, St. Vincent, at Macalester College, and at the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) in Costa Rica and South Africa. Andrea received a Mellon Fellowship through Duke University for the research conducted at Kruger National Park in South Africa. Her work on a mammal survey project in Costa Rica sparked her interest in mammalian ecology and systematics. Andrea's current research projects focus on the ecological factors that affect rodent diversity and abundance in Neotropical forests. She has received several grants to support her research, including the Explorer's Club Grant, OTS Field Research Grant, Ida H. Hyde Scholarship for Women in Science, and the Latin American Studies Field Research Grant. Her goals are to become a college professor, continue her research on Neotropical systems, and positively impact conservation policies and efforts in the Neotropics. Mentor: Robert M. Timm, Associate Professor, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
