Information For Faculty and Advisors

Potential Self Fellows are nominated by their prospective graduate department. Faculty should encourage students to apply to KU early, since the Self Graduate Fellowship deadline for nomination is earlier than many KU Graduate Studies deadlines. Check eligible disciplines for department contact information if you have specific questions about a Ph.D. program.

Nominees must also meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed their baccalaureate degree within the past eight years,
  • Be U.S. citizens, and
  • Be new Ph.D. students or first-year Ph.D. students without a research-based master’s degree in the Ph.D. discipline.

Please refer to the timeline. Your assistance in meeting deadlines for applications, letters of recommendation, and nominations will be important.
