Mark M. Bailey
| Mark, a 2006-2010 Self Fellow, received a Ph.D. in bioengineering in 2010. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh (2006) with a B.S. in chemical engineering, with honors, and with minors in bioengineering and chemistry. At Pittsburgh he was the recipient of the Samuel A. Taylor Engineering Scholarship and a member of the Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society. In 2008 he received a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Kansas.
Mark's research at KU focused on advanced processing of small peptide drugs using nanotechnology for pulmonary delivery. While a student Mark worked to develop a novel inhalable insulin formulation and also published in a special issue of Tissue Engineering. He is a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, where he held leadership positions as an undergraduate.
Mark has worked as a scientist for MAP Pharmaceuticals in Mountain View, California. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow with the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Washington, D.C. Mentors: Cory J.
