Private Scholarship Applications

The scholarships listed here are from agencies outside KU who requested their scholarships be publicized to our students. These scholarships vary in their qualifications, requirements, and deadlines, so all students are encouraged to pursue the opportunities listed here.

If you do receive a scholarship from any outside agency, you should report these scholarships in Enroll & Pay at sa.ku.edu (Student Center > Accept/Decline Awards, Page 2) or notify FAS by email, mail, or fax. If you report by email , mail, or fax, please indicate the scholarship name, amount, and term (fall/spring/summer) as well as your first and last name initials (please do not include your full name for security reasons), KUID number, permanent address and phone number, and day and month of birth (please do not include year for security reasons).

Need Analysis

Many scholarship applications consider financial need as well as academic performance. This portion of the application, also known as a Need Analysis, must be completed and certified by Financial Aid and Scholarships (FAS). Please print, complete and submit the General Need Analysis Request Form along with information from the donor preferably 2 weeks prior to the scholarship application deadline.     Description: Scholarships available for bachelors and masters candidates in social sciences, business, communications, journalism, computer science, counseling, and education.

  • Delta Theta Chi Irene Mutch Thomson Electra Province Scholarship

    Description: Males and females who are declaring a major in the fine arts and are attending a college or university in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, or Iowa.

  • Delta Theta Chi National Scholarships
    Deadline: 02/01
    Amount: $1,400 to $3,100
    Description: A non-collegiate educational sorority gives scholarships to students with a high scholastic average and evidence of financial need.

  • Department of Energy Scholars Program
    Deadline: 03/31
    Amount: $550-$600 weekly stipend
    Description: Ten-week summer internships at the Department of Energy, with round-trip travel included.

  • Department of Homeland Security Scholarship and Fellowship Program
    Deadline: 01/05 by 11:59 pm EST
    Amount: Stipend and tuition/fees
    Description: US citizens with a 3.3 GPA. Must be majoring in a homeland security science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Applicants should be in their second or third year of college as of the application deadline.

  • Desk & Derrick Educational Trust Scholarships
    Deadline: 04/01
    Amount: $1,500
    Description: Full-time sophomore or above students with a minimum 3.2 GPA seeking degrees in fields related to the petroleum, energy, and allied industries, or research and development of alternative fuels such as coal, electric, solar, wind hydroelectric, nuclear, and ethanol.

    Description: Students in the School of Education who have achieved a junior or senior status and are a graduate of one of the five Dickinson County high Schools.

  • Dillenkoffer Endowment Scholarship
    Deadline: 03/15
    Amount: up to $10,000
    Description: For gay, bisexual, or trans-gendered residents of Kansas and Missouri who have at least a 2.75 GPA and can demonstrate that they have made a difference through school or community envolvement.

    Description: The scholarship provides financial assistance to a Heartland Health nurse pursuing a degree beyond the Bachelor's level. Must reside in the Heartland Foundation service area.
