Private Scholarship Applications

The scholarships listed here are from agencies outside KU who requested their scholarships be publicized to our students. These scholarships vary in their qualifications, requirements, and deadlines, so all students are encouraged to pursue the opportunities listed here.

If you do receive a scholarship from any outside agency, you should report these scholarships in Enroll & Pay at sa.ku.edu (Student Center > Accept/Decline Awards, Page 2) or notify FAS by email, mail, or fax. If you report by email , mail, or fax, please indicate the scholarship name, amount, and term (fall/spring/summer) as well as your first and last name initials (please do not include your full name for security reasons), KUID number, permanent address and phone number, and day and month of birth (please do not include year for security reasons).

Need Analysis

Many scholarship applications consider financial need as well as academic performance. This portion of the application, also known as a Need Analysis, must be completed and certified by Financial Aid and Scholarships (FAS). Please print, complete and submit the General Need Analysis Request Form along with information from the donor preferably 2 weeks prior to the scholarship application deadline. If you have questions about Need Analysis, please contact FAS.

  • Belles of the American Royal Presidents' Scholarship
    Deadline: 11/21
    Amount: $2,500
    Description: Seniors or current undergraduates with a 2.5 GPA who have completed and documented at least 15 volunteer hours at American Royal events.

  • Big Sun Scholarship
    Deadline: 06/24
    Amount: $500
    Description: All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and must submit an essay, as indicated on the website.

  • Bill and Mary Russell Health Care Scholarship
    Deadline: 07/02 by 4:30 PM CST
    Amount: Undesignated
    Description: This program supports those pursuing educational opportunities in a health care field. All recipients must be accepted and enrolled in an approved nursing or health related program. Must reside in the Heartland Foundation service area.

  • Bill Spaniol Memorial Scholarship
    Deadline: 05/31 (postmarked)
    Amount: $500
    Description: Graduated from Kansas high school and will attend a Kansas college or university. GPA requirements. Show interest in Biological or Physical Sciences.

  • Black Community Scholarship Fund
    Deadline: 04/18 Must be received by Noon.
    Amount: $5,000
    Description: Applicant must reside in Jackson, Platte, Clay or Cass counties in MO or Wyandotte or Johnson counties in KS. Applicants should be of African-American heritage. Applicants can be graduating high school seniors or continuing college students. Priority to students pursuing degrees in Healthcare, Education or Youth Development.
