Professional Biography

a picture of Dr.Fox Research and Training Center on Independent Living research director Mike Fox also chairs the department of Health Policy and Management at the Kansas University Medical Center in which he is an associate professor and an associate in the Landon Center on Aging as well as a joint associate professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Fox received a Sc.D., with a major in health policy and management, from the School of Hygiene and Public Health at The Johns Hopkins University and has graduate degrees in Studies in Behavioral Disabilities and Biostatistics and Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Wisconsin and Medical College of Wisconsin.

After a variety of administrative, research, and teaching positions, Fox joined the University of Kansas in 1995. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of public health, disability and health policy. At the RTC/IL, Fox has directed the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation funded study of paralysis surveillance and co-directs the Centers for Disease Control-funded Nobody Left Behind projects that investigate disaster management that affects persons with physical disabilities.
