Departmental Undergraduate Honors.
Department of Religious Studies

To be eligible for honors in religious studies, a student must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 overall and of 3.5 in the department. Successful completion of honors includes an independent research project. Honors sections are offered in selected courses. Interested students should confer with the departmental honors adviser. Upon conferral with the honors adviser, the student will approach the faculty member in the department with whom they would like to do the independent research project. Once the project is decided, the student would then enroll in REL 499 Honors Thesis and file an Honors Intent Form that can be found in the department office.

Completing a departmental honors program allows academically talented, promising and motivated undergraduate students to enrich their educational work with a focus in liberal education and adds to a basis for graduate or professional study in religion. Departmental honors can also fulfill a requirement in the University Honors Program.
