Summary of Disaster:

 

“The tornado actually hit one city and then continued through another 30 miles across the county that was exclusively rural,” according to the county emergency manager. “A large percentage of the people that lived in those rural areas were over the age of 65. The estimated cost of property damage was $47 million.”

 

Reported Injuries, Deaths, and Rescue at the Site:

 

Approximately 100 people were injured and 5 were killed during this disaster. The emergency manager estimated that one person with a mobility limitation had been killed and another 25% of the people rescued had a mobility limitation. The total number of people rescued was between 200-300 people.
