Summary of Disaster: According to the FEMA website (WWW.fema.gov), this county was declared a FEMA disaster area on October 15, 1999 because of severe storms, high winds, and flooding. The emergency manager noted during the research interview that the disaster occurred in an area that had a lot of mobile homes. Property damage was estimated at $30 million. He stated, “Most of the damage was from roofs being blown off of homes followed by some heavy rain that caused water damage.”
Reported Injuries, Deaths, and Rescue at the Site:The emergency manager was not aware of any injuries, deaths, or rescues as a result of the disaster.
