Various Policy

Attendance Policy

The various schools establish their own regulations regarding class attendance. Officially documented explanations for absences for such causes as illness, field trips or varsity athletic competition may be helpful in assessing reasons for absences but are not considered to be excuses from assigned work.

Student Concerns about Instruction

Students experiencing difficulties or problems with a particular course, and/or having a complaint or grievance concerning the instruction of a particular instructor in a course, are urged to discuss the problem in a timely fashion with the instructor concerned. If the student feels awkward or uncomfortable in doing this, he or she should see the chairperson of the instructor's department, or if need be, the dean of the school/College. The chairperson (or dean) will bring the matter to the instructor's attention, preserving the student's anonymity, if so requested.

Dismissal for Academic Performance

A student's enrollment for a future term may be automatically canceled if notification is received at the Office of the University Registrar that the student has been dismissed for academic performance. Contact the school or college for more information.

Dismissed students may wish to explore the possibility of continuing at KU by obtaining admission to another school/college. This procedure starts by contacting the office of the school/college to which the student wishes to change. If accepted, the student obtains a new enrollment passport and course selection form and begins the enrollment process again during Late Enrollment.
