5.4.5 Recreation Advisory Board
5.4.5.1 Nine (9) student voting members are appointed by the Student Body President with the majority consent of the Student Senate. Five (5) student members are elected by and represent Sport Club Council. Ex-officio, nonvoting appointments made by the President include the Student Body Treasurer, Director of Recreation Services or designee, HSES Robinson Facility Manager or designee, Director of Organizations and Leadership Center or designee and the Office of Student Success or designee.
5.4.5.2 Functions of the Recreation Advisory Board
A. The Recreation Advisory Board will be responsible for administrative, budgetary, and appellate procedures for Recreation Services, and all Sports Clubs. These responsibilities shall be limited to recreation programs and the facility use for students, faculty, staff, and their immediate families.
B. The Recreation Advisory Board shall ensure that all funding for Sports Clubs, Recreational facilities, or Recreation Services follows all funding regulations enacted in Article VII, Sections 7.6 and 7.7 of the Student Senate Rules and Regulations.
C. The Recreation Advisory Board shall reevaluate financial need/inflationary increases in the programming budget every three (3) years at which time they may appeal to the Student Senate for an increase in the restricted fee.
7.3.7 Student Recreation Fee
7.3.7.1 Purpose. Whereas continuation of funding for improvement and development of recreational facilities and grounds, for sports clubs and for recreational opportunity among members of the Student Body is important to the Student Body: We, the University of Kansas Student Senate, hereby approve and authorize the Office of the Comptroller to collect and administer a Student Recreation Fee.
7.3.7.2 Provision.
Every student enrolled in any semester or summer session at the Lawrence campus of the University of Kansas shall pay a Student Recreation Fee which is applicable as follows:
A. Fall and Spring Semester Fee
Every student enrolled in more than six (6) credit hours per semester shall pay a seventy-five dollar and fifty cents ($75.50) Student Recreation Fee. Every student enrolled in six (6) or fewer credit hours per semester shall pay a Student Recreation Fee for each hour in which they are in enrolled, the amount as published in the Official Comprehensive Fee Schedule.
B. Summer Semester Fee
Every student enrolled in five (5) or more semester credit hours shall pay a thirty-seven dollar and seventy-five cent ($37.75) Student Recreation Fee. Every student enrolled in fewer than five (5) semester credit hours shall pay a Student Recreation Fee for each hour in which they are enrolled, the amount as published in the Official Comprehensive Fee Schedule.
7.3.7.3 Trustee.
In order to fulfill the purpose of the Student Recreation Fee: We, the University of Kansas Student Senate, hereby appoint the Recreation Advisory Board as trustee of the Student Recreation Fee.
