- What if I can not make it into the ASRFC Administrative Office during normal hours of operation to purchase a membership?
- I am an alumnus of the University of Kansas. What are my membership options?
- I started school here at KU in the Fall Semester 2003 (or later). Do I have any former student semesters?

What if I can not make it into the ASRFC Administrative Office during normal hours of operation to purchase a membership?
Arrangements can be made for purchase of a membership outside of the normal hours of operation. You may contact Membership Services via phone at 785.864.1370.
Note that the ASRFC Administrative Office will have extended hours early each semester (approximately 7- 10 days) to accommodate varying academic and work schedules. Please make all effort to purchase membership during these extended hours.
I am an alumnus of the University of Kansas. What are my membership options?
At this time, KU Recreation Services does not offer a membership option for KU Alumni.
However, if you were enrolled at the University of Kansas (Lawrence campus) and paid the Required Campus Fee anytime during the Fall Semester 1998 and the summer 2003, you are eligible for Former Student membership. You will receive access (i.e. membership at no cost) for each semester you were enrolled at the KU-Lawrence campus and paid the Required Campus Fee during the aforementioned time period. Verification must occur before your KU Photo ID or ASRFC Photo ID is activated.
I started school here at KU in the Fall Semester 2003 (or later). Do I have any former student semesters?
No, you have no former student semesters available to activate.
Are my former student semesters transferable to someone else?
No, former student semesters are not transferable.
Once I activate a former student semester, must I use them in consecutive semesters until they are exhausted?
No, former student semesters need not be activated consecutively until they are exhausted. However, you must activate for each semester that you intend to use the ASRFC. Please stop by the ASRFC Administrative Office during office hours to activate.
Is there an expiration date for use of the former student semesters?
No, there is no expiration date for use of the former student semesters.
I just graduated from KU. Can I still use the ASRFC?
If you just graduated from KU (Lawrence campus) and have no former student semesters available, you may purchase an Off-Term Student Membership (excluding summer). You are eligible for this membership option for the semester directly after the semester you were last enrolled. Cost of membership is $20.83 per month. Verification of previous semester enrollment must occur prior to purchase and activation of membership. You are eligible for an Off-Term Student membership only once. Once you purchase the membership, you are not eligible for this membership at any time in the future.
I was a student during the spring semester, but I am not enrolled in classes during the summer. Can I purchase a summer membership to the ASRFC?
Yes, you may purchase a summer membership. Verification of previous semester enrollment must occur prior to purchase and activation of membership.
I am a new student this coming fall? Can I purchase a summer membership?
Yes, you are eligible to purchase a summer membership once you have enrolled for the fall and have a KU Photo ID. Membership can be purchased in the ASRFC Administrative Office during business hours. Verification of enrollment in fall semester will occur. Verification may not be immediate.
I am a currently enrolled student. When does my membership expire for the current semester?
Please check the Terms section of Membership Services.
Does the ASRFC offer any family memberships?
At this time, KU Recreation Services does not offer a family membership for dependents. However, spouses or domestic partners of students and faculty/staff are eligible to purchase a membership to the KU ASRFC. Please see Membership Eligibility for requirements and more information.
I am attending a conference on the KU Campus. Can I use the ASRFC?
You may use the KU ASRFC if prior arrangements have been made by the Conference Coordinator. The Conference Coordinator should contact Membership Services via phone at 785.864.1370.
I am a spouse of a Faculty/Staff/Retiree/Affiliate at KU? Must the Faculty/Staff/Retiree/Affiliate be a member of the ASRFC in order for me to purchase a membership?
No, the spouse may purchase a membership regardless if the Faculty/Staff/Retiree/Affiliate is a member or not. The spouse must meet all membership eligibility requirements.
I am taking an on-line course through Continuing Education-Independent Study? Am I eligible to use the ASRFC?
Individuals who are enrolled in an on-line course through Continuing Education- Independent Study course do not pay the required campus fee and thus are not automatic members of the ASRFC. KU Recreation Services does offer membership option for individuals enrolled in Independent Study course(s) and/or their spouse/domestic partner. The cost is $20.83/month. They are eligible for 6 months, with the possiblity of a 3 month extension based upon verification. The spouse must meet all membership eligibility requirements. Starting August 1, 2009, off-campus students who enroll on or after July 1, 2009 in Independent Study courses will be able to purchase monthly ASRFC membership for the duration of their class.
I am taking a Continuing Education Independent Study course. Am I eligible to use the ASRFC?
Individuals who are enrolled in a Continuing Education- Independent Study course do not pay the required campus fee and thus are not automatic members of the ASRFC. KU Recreation Services does offer membership option for individuals enrolled in Independent Study course(s) and/or their spouse/domestic partner. The cost is $20.83/month. They are eligible for 6 months, with the possiblity of a 3 month extension based upon verification. The spouse must meet all membership eligibility requirements. Starting August 1, 2009, off-campus students who enroll on or after July 1, 2009 in Independent Study courses will be able to purchase monthly ASRFC membership for the duration of their class.

No. If you have not enrolled and paid your required campus fees yet for the current semester, you are not eligible to use the ASRFC.
I have lost my KU Photo ID. Can I use the ASRFC?
Appropriate KU Photo ID must be presented upon each entry to gain admittance to the ASRFC. Current members may enter the ASRFC three times ONLY during one calendar year with the use of a United States governement or state government issued non-University of Kansas document/identification card. Documnet/indentification card must have a current picture of the member. For example, members could use their driver's license, DMV identification card, military ID or passport as long as it has an indentifying picture and name on it. Other non-official IDs that do not have pictures, such as social security cards will not be accepted.
No ID = No Entry.
I do not have my KU Photo ID with me and the Welcome Center staff will not let me in. Can the office look me up and let me in to use the ASRFC?
No. The ASRFC Administrative Office staff will not look you up to allow you access to the KU ASRFC without appropriate KU Photo Identification. While it inconveniences the person who has forgotten their KU or ASRFC Photo ID, we believe consistent enforcement of this policy allows us to avoid being arbitrary. We have chosen to not operate on a 'who you know' or 'who's who' system of entry. We believe in being fair, consistent and predictable for EVERY participant, those who we know and those who we do not know.
I have a personal training appointment and have forgotten my KU Photo ID. Is there any way I can enter for my personal training appointment without ID?
No, all participants must have a current and valid KU Photo or ASRFC Photo ID. No, the ASRFC Administrative Office does not make KU Photo IDs for current students. Please contact the KU Card Center located on the fourth floor of the Kansas Union adjacent to the Commerce Bank location. The KU Card Center is open 8am - 4pm Monday through Friday. I am a new Faculty/Staff/Affiliate member. What are my membership options? When can I start using the ASRFC?
Faculty/Staff are eligible to start using the KU ASRFC once they have their KU Photo ID. Verification will be made by the SRFC Administrative Office staff to ensure current status as Faculty/Staff/Affiliate. All faculty/staff/affiliate are eligible for a one-week trial at no charge. Yes, the ASRFC Administrative Office staff can sell you a membership for a weekly rate.
I have a new KU Photo ID. Must I let the ASRFC know about the new ID?
Yes, please stop by the ASRFC Administrative Office to allow the staff to change your KU Photo ID number.
Where do I purchase a guest pass to the ASRFC? Can I purchase a guest pass after the office closes?
All guest passes are to be purchased in the ASRFC Administrative Office. When the ASRFC Administrative Office is closed, the Facility Supervisor on duty will be able to sell guest passes.
Can I purchase a guest pass in advance?
No, guest passes can only be purchased on that date and both guest and sponsor MUST be present. The receipt is only good for that day (date is on the receipt). Guests must present photo ID.
Is the guest pass good for the Robinson Center, too?
No, the guest pass is not valid at the Robinson Center.
I think I lost my KU Photo ID at the ASRFC. Do you have a lost and found for IDs?
Yes, lost and found is located at the Equipment Checkout area at the ASRFC. Lost ID Cards for currently enrolled students, faculty/staff and retirees/affiliates are returned to the KU Card Center within 2 working days. KU Photo and ASRFC Photo cards of the other membership categories are turned into the ASRFC Administrative Office.
Does the ASRFC accept the KU Card for payment?
No, KU Recreation Services does accept the KU Card for payment. KU Recreation Services does not accept Beak 'Em Bucks either.
Can I get change for the parking meters at the ASRFC?
The ASRFC Administrative Office does not have change available for parking meters. A change machine is available in the northwest corner of Parking Lot No. 90 adjacent to the tennis courts. KU Parking and Transit Department maintains this change machine. Please direct all comments to the KU Parking and Transit Department.
Where am I able to park when using the ASRFC?
Restricted parking is available in Yellow Parking Lot No. 90 from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. Yellow permit is required.
ASRFC Permits are only available for University Housing or Park and Ride Permits between 8am-4pm.
Restricted parking is available in Red Parking Lot No. 90 from 7am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Red permit is required.
Meter parking is available in Parking Lot No. 90. Parking meters are limited to 1, 2 or 10 hour parking. .

I just got a parking ticket. Who can I talk to?

Are lockers available at the ASRFC?
Day use lockers are available in Men's Locker Room 14 and Women's Locker Room 15 at no cost during hours of operation. Personal locks may be used on any of these day use lockers. These lockers must be cleared and any lock removed by the end of the day. All locks remaining at the end of the day are subject to being cut at the owner's expense and all items confiscated.
20 lockers in both the Men's and Women's Locker Rooms are rented on a 6 month basis for $20 (no proration). The terms are September-February and March-August. Locker No refunds will be made after the first week of renting. Rental is purchased and administrated through the ASRFC Administrative Office. After each term, current renters have the option to renew. A wait list is kept and those individuals will be contacted.
When is the ASRFC closed during the year? Does KU Recreation Services make adjustments to memberships purchased?
The ASRFC is closed on all University holidays and occasionally a day prior to or after a holiday. In addition, the ASRFC is closed on the weekends over winter break, and numerous days in late July / early August for maintenance and cleaning.
KU Recreation Services does not make adjustments to memberships purchased. It is your responsibility to ensure you are purchasing your best membership option.
